South Bay Parkland Conservancy is teaming up with US Fish and Wildlife Services, LA County Department of Beaches and Harbor, LA Conservation Corps, the City of Redondo Beach and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to restore habitat for the endangered El Segundo blue butterfly and other native wildlife along the bluffs of Redondo Beach.
This project will maintain existing habitat restoration on the bluffs between Miramar Park and Avenue E and conduct new restoration between Avenues E and C.
Volunteers will be asked to assist with:
weeding out invasive plants
installing new native plants (during the rainy season)
providing supplemental water to newly installed plants, as needed
What to bring:
Come prepared with clothes that can get dirty and wet!
Closed toed shoes/boots
Sunscreen
Reusable water bottles (drinking fountains located at Avenues G restroom) & snacks
Gloves and tools provided, although volunteers are welcome to bring their own
